Bring on the music... Introducing SOUNDSCAPES!
CACWL's fresh take on a new year of programs is available in STEREO! Sound and music are centre stage as we launch Soundscapes, at once affirming Williams Lake as a thriving musical community while supporting the development of emerging talent. Soundscapes covers vocal workshops, musical production, live performance and ambient sounds around the community.
- Coming up on Saturday, March 11, Juno Award winning singer-songwriter Pharis Romero will lead a one-day vocal workshop for singers of all levels. Cost is $50, ages 16 and up, and will take pace at the Central Cariboo Arts Centre from 10 am to 4 pm. Pot-luck lunch, and an opportunity to invite friends and loved ones to the last half hour for a performance.
Find Freedom in Your Voice
Build up your skills in breathing, projection, tone, and range, and find new freedom and confidence to explore and develop your own voice. We’ll spend time on the physicality of singing, do some exceptionally fun exercises and we’ll learn some beautiful old songs to practice our new-found skills on. We will also work on singing well with others, learning harmonies and arrangements of these songs. We hope that you’ll leave the day with a renewed sense of the joy singing brings you.
Shut Up and Make a Record!
- Later this spring, we're really excited to give Brandon Hoffman, aka Blockteat, a platform to teach a six-week music production course. We're targeting youth on this program, but may open up the class to all ages based on interest. Class is limited to ten participants, so if you know any up and coming musician looking to take their recording knowledge to the next level, contact us at williamslakearts@gmail.com.
- There's more! We're working on more youth focused workshops in Hip-hop with local First Nations MCs Beka Solo and Rich Mac for BC Youth Week, as well as promoting live music in the downtown core. Stay tuned!! Get it, stay tuned?!
